There are three common conditions of the prostate:

Signs your prostate might be affected by either of these three conditions:

• Increased urinary frequency, 
• Increased urgency to urinate
• Decreased force of stream
• Increased nighttime urination
• Bladder sensation of incomplete emptying
• Incontinence
• Burning on urination, possibly with chills and fever
• Elevated PSA markers
• Low back or testicular pain
• Blood in the urine

What do PSA markers show us?

Each of the three common conditions can present with enlargement and elevated PSA lab markers. However a key component is how the prostate presents differently in each condition and has unique characteristics of the PSA markers when observed over time. Our approach is to look at these unique characteristics along with the patients symptom presentation to differentiate between these three conditions. An accurate diagnosis is important because each one of these conditions is treated uniquely different.
